Murano – Large Ruby Red “Rubino” Art Glass Vase with Bullicante, Avventurina Gold Dust & Applied Morise – Italy, c. 1950s–60s

A spectacular and highly collectible Mid-Century Murano art glass vase, executed in rich ruby-red “Rubino” glass and combining multiple advanced Venetian glass techniques into one dramatic sculptural form. This substantial piece exemplifies the technical virtuosity and expressive design language of postwar Murano studio glass.
The body is hand-blown in a deep, glowing ruby red — a notoriously complex colour to achieve — with an extraordinary internal luminosity that shifts between crimson, fiery orange-red, amber, and molten gold tones as it catches the light. The thick glass walls amplify this intensity, giving the vase a powerful, almost incandescent presence.
Avventurina (gold dust): Fine particles of gold-infused aventurine glass embedded within the matrix, producing a shimmering constellation of metallic highlights that glisten across the surface.
Applied Morise: Sculptural clear glass loops and tendrils applied directly to the hot body, forming organic, flowing handles that wrap and frame the vessel. These crystal elements contrast beautifully with the intense red core, creating the effect of a transparent glass “cage” containing glowing fire within.
