A museum-quality and fully signed masterpiece of Bohemian Art Nouveau glass by Johann Loetz Witwe, one of the most important names in decorative arts history. This exceptional vase bears the highly desirable engraved cursive “Loetz Austria” signature on the polished pontil base, confirming both authenticity and superior quality.
Executed in the celebrated Phaenomen Genre 6893 decoration on a rare Candia (golden-yellow) ground, this early production example represents one of the earliest and most significant phases of Loetz’s iridescent glass development, first introduced around 1898. The surface is adorned with tightly wound, milky-white and silver-yellow threads, applied while molten and then combed and reduced to create a mesmerizing wave-like structure that flows seamlessly across the entire form.
Created during the most celebrated period of Loetz production, this design coincides with the firm’s international acclaim, including the Grand Prize at the 1900 Paris Exposition Universelle, where Loetz established itself alongside Tiffany as a leader in iridescent glass innovation.
